Acquired in 1991 by Daycon Mechanical Systems, Northland Superior is built upon the systems, equipment, and facilities experience of
several grain processing equipment companies dating back to the early 1900's. The two companies share a head office in Winnipeg Manitoba, the center of the
Canadian grain industry, and the northern gateway to the US Great Plains. Export terminals at Thunder Bay and the Canadian West Coast were Northland Superior's prime customers until the late 1990's, when new construction of scores of inland terminals across the Canadian Prairies required new and sophisticated grain cleaning systems. We have provided the lion's share of the systems and equipments for these terminals, and have established ourselves as the supplier of choice for Canadian grain companies. Northland Superior has office and shop facilities in Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, and Vancouver. The Winnipeg operation was established in 1998 in a new 40,000 square foot fabrication and assembly facility. This facility has CNC laser and plasma cutting equipment, a CNC turret punch, forming and fabrication capability, assembly, and painting capability. Overhead cranes service the entire shop. Winnipeg is the prime location for our renewal parts inventory. Thunder Bay operations include a 35,000 square foot facility, with extensive sheet metal cutting, forming, fabrication, and assembly capability. The Thunder Bay and Winnipeg factories share the manufacturing of our grain cleaning equipment, with certain functions integrated between the two, and the assembly of certain product lines rationalized between them. We stock a range of renewal parts in Thunder Bay to support our Lakehead customers. Our Vancouver facility is primarily for the support of our West Coast customers, and includes CNC plasma cutting, sheet metal forming, and fabrication. We also stock certain renewal parts in our Vancouver warehouse. All three facilities are served with sales, engineering and production staff. The engineering departments utilize AutoCAD drafting programs to produce detailed engineering drawings and shop fabrication details. A WAN, wide area network, is used to communicate and transmit drawings and information between locations and jobsites. We have additional sales offices in Calgary, Alberta, and in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
We work with many industry associations to be close to our customers and to be current with issues and trends within the industries. We are members of:
